In this post we’ll be showcasing examples of where we’ve turned geochemical data into knowledge, providing insight into the controls on mineralisation at different exploration projects. This information can play a vital role towards reducing the time to discovery and production across mineral exploration projects. It becomes fit for purpose data!
To begin with, we will illustrate what makes data fit for purpose and show some constraints on geochemical workflows when using poor-quality data from weak acid digests.
Acquiring data using the most appropriate analytical technique is vital to unlock maximum value from your geochemical data.
Analysis with ICP-MS instrumentation after a 4-acid (near-total) digest is recommended.
- Example: weaker dissolution of Mg-containing minerals in aqua-regia reduces contrast on carbonate classification diagram.
- 4-acid digest incurs <10% more cost when compared to aqua-regia (including typical sample preparation and Au Fire Assay at a leading commercial geochemistry lab).
