Back to Australia

3PXS are heading back to Australia! We are pleased to announce that we will be presenting some of our geochemistry workflows at the prestigious Society of Economic Geologists 2025 Conference in Brisbane this September.

Our abstract has been accepted by the chairs of this year’s Technology theme. We’ll be presenting on Saturday, 27th September with a talk titled: “Using Automated pXRF Data Collection to Model Gold Deportment and Litho-Geochemistry Through Regolith in the Yilgarn Craton, Western Australia.” Our discussion will focus on the systematic deployment of portable XRF (pXRF) technology through recent innovations such as detectORE™ and RokBot™ from Portable PPB Pty Ltd. The presentation will outline how we validated detectORE™ gold determinations against laboratory fire assays. Multi-element data generated by the RokBot™ were used to generate a spatially robust 3D geochemical model of the Mulgabbie Archean lode gold deposit (in Western Australia). The model integrates a litho-geochemical characterisation of mineralised intervals, including pathfinder and sulphide distributions, to identify favourable host rocks. Resulting geochemical ratios that will be shown to be preserved through the highly weathered regolith environment. Our findings demonstrate how integrating emerging technologies into active exploration workflows can significantly enhance near real-time decision-making and speed up the time to discovery.

We have also had a poster accepted! It is titled “New Insights into Ore Genesis and Exploration Models from Multi-Element Geochemistry.” This work showcases how we leveraged standard industry drill core geochemical data to distinguish hydrothermal pyrites — formed as part of mineralising systems — from syngenetic or diagenetic phases. Additionally, we explore how redox-sensitive trace elements (ROSTEs) can be used to identify stratigraphic facies favourable to marine sediment-hosted ore deposits. The key value lies in enhancing orebody knowledge using routinely collected exploration data. This enables more informed exploration decisions and supporting detailed geometallurgical classifications during project development.

Third Planet can also assist with planning sampling strategies and prep/analytical/ QC workflows upon request. If you’d like any more information on any of our services, or assistance with enhancing the impact of your geochemical data, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
