Third Planet Exploration Services (3PXS for short) are a team that helps optimize mineral exploration and mining projects by maximizing the value of geochemical datasets. We also provide technical support to improve mineral system and ore-body knowledge. To achieve this, we first assess data quality, then define lithological contrasts, alteration, and mineralization signatures. Such in-depth understanding of the controls on mineralisation shortens time to discovery and can fast-track geometallurgical studies. Over the past five years these geochemical workflows have been applied to over 45 exploration projects and mining operations, in many commodities, across four continents. Commodities include Co, Li, Cu, Au, Ag, Pb and Zn.
Another service we provide some clients is design, scaling and staging of multi-target exploration programmes using a mineral systems approach. This involves developing area selection criteria specific to the deposit type targeted. Firstly, templates for scoring and ranking of belts, camps and targets are generated and calibrated. This is followed by application of the templates with client geoscientists in a workshop setting. This results in the development of integrated, multi-stage exploration programmes and realistic budgeting.
We are discovery driven, having previously being part of important orebody discoveries such as La Herradura (Au, Mexico), Peñasquito (Au, Mexico), Nochebuena (Au, Mexico), Resolution (Cu, USA), Goldrush (Au, USA) and Alturas (Au, Chile). Also, successful continent-scale grassroots target generation programmes in South America and Scandinavia led to several drillable exploration targets.

Early-Career Team Members mostly in the first 5 years of their careers, or some who are still studying, contribute from time to time. These budding exploration geologists and geochemists are enthusiastic members of the team with data processing skills using the industry-leading software ioGAS, often as part of their Masters` degree dissertations. They are drawn from several academic institutions across the globe, such as the Royal School of Mines (Imperial College, London), Camborne School of Mines (Cornwall, UK), the University of Cardiff (Wales, UK) and the University of Sydney (Australia).
In most cases, students connect with 3PXS for some mentoring during their time at university, then follow-up with part-time contributions to mineral exploration projects. These include geochemical data interpretations and lithogeochemistry at 3PXS, in projects which currently span more than 45 exploration gold, silver and battery metals projects over 4 continents.
